FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ‘SINGLE SITTING ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

FAQ-rct-1200x675.png

Root canal treatment is the most common and predictable way to save the tooth and maintain its functional state. Following are the frequently asked questions about single sitting RCT.

IS SINGLE SITTING RCT PAINFUL?

With the revolutionary changes in the treatment concepts and development in the equipment, there is not much pain in this treatment. In Complete dental solutions i.e. our clinic statistics have shown that in 99 percent of cases, there is no pain.

HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE?

Due to rotary instruments and development in Ni-Ti files, the time taken from the start to the end of the procedure is 30 to 45 minutes.

DOES IT PAIN AFTER RCT?

Usually, anti-inflammatory analgesics/painkillers are given SOS to control pain, if any that might happen. More than 95% of our treated patients at Complete Dental Solutions do not complain of post-treatment pain.

ARE THE CANALS DISINFECTED PROPERLY IN SINGLE SITTING RCT?

The procedure is technique sensitive. Once the canals are properly prepared, with the copious and generous use of the irrigants and sealed immediately, the healing is prompt.

HOW IS THE PROGNOSIS OF SINGLE SITTING RCT?

In reputed clinics of Noida like Complete dental solutions where the expertise, materials and sterilization conform to global standards, the prognosis of the single sitting RCT is certainly very good.

ANY COMPLICATIONS AFTER ROOT CANAL TREATMENT?

Tooth fracture: If a crown is not fabricated early after RCT it is possible that the tooth could crack or break because it becomes brittle. A crown or an overlay restoration is mandatory to protect the tooth from masticatory forces

Infection: Complete dental solutions follow strict sterilization protocols so infection after root canal treatment is very rare. It usually happens if any strain of resistant bacteria is infecting the root canal or the anatomy of the roots is too complicated to resolve with endodontic therapy.

If an infection is suspected or observed antibiotics are prescribed to control the infection. Signs of infection include pain, fever, swelling, abscess and/or pus. If you experience any of these symptoms after the root canal treatment you should contact your endodontist immediately. If symptoms do not subside by medication then it becomes necessary to reopen the tooth for drainage.
