TREATMENT PROCEDURE

The first visit:

During your first visit, the tooth receiving the crown is examined using intraoral scanners, and X-rays are taken to assess its condition.

If there’s decay, risk of infection, or damage to the tooth’s pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth), a root canal might be needed before the crown procedure.

Next, the tooth is reshaped by filing it down to make room for the crown. The amount removed depends on the crown type—ceramic crowns need less removal than porcelain-fused-to-metal.

If part of the tooth is missing, filling material is used to rebuild it.

After reshaping, a paste or putty is used to make an impression of the tooth. Impressions of the surrounding teeth are also taken to ensure the crown fits your bite properly.

The impressions are sent to a dental laboratory. The laboratory makes the crowns and usually returns them in 2-3 days or within a week.

The second visit:

At the second visit, the permanent crown is placed on your tooth.

The fit and colour of the permanent crown are checked. If everything is okay, the new crown is permanently secured in place.

Treatment Instructions for Maryland Bridges:

We will lightly etch the back of your adjacent/neighbouring teeth to help the bonding surface and apply a bonding resin to the back of each adjacent tooth.

Our dentists will place the bridge’s metal wings to the bonding resin on the back of each tooth, fitting the new tooth in the gap.

We will cure the resin to secure the dental bridge in place

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A missing tooth can be replaced by dental implants, crowns and bridges, removable partial dentures, and complete dentures.

Teeth tend to move wherever they get space. If a missing tooth is not replaced, the adjacent teeth start to shift/ migrate in this space. The tooth from the opposing arch/jaw starts to supra erupt into this space. This results in creating new gaps in your teeth. Thus the integrity of the entire complement of the teeth gets disrupted. The underlying bone in the area of the missing teeth also starts to resorb. Resulting in changes in bite and finally impacting the jaw joints.

Dental crowns may last from 5 to 15 years depending on several factors such as the complexity of the case, the material used, and oral hygiene routines.

Usually, A cavity does not appear under the crown. It happens only when the crown is placed properly. Whenever there Is A gap between the margin Of The crown and the underline tooth, food or saliva can penetrate inside and lead to a cavity/decay. If tooth decay happens under the crown, then the dentist need To remove the crown, fill up the cavity and fix a new crown. Here are a few signs that may indicate you have tooth decay under your crown. Increased tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure, toothaches, swollen or inflamed gums, and food lodgement

Before the procedure, we use a local anaesthetic to ensure the procedure is pain-free. Mild soreness or sensitivity in the gums may occur after the anaesthetia wears off but typically it goes away within a few days.

Root canal treatment involves removing the infected pulp inside the tooth. To restore strength and protect the treated tooth, a crown, inlay, or overlay is typically placed, especially for back teeth such as molars and premolars.

A dental implant is the best way to replace a missing tooth. It looks, feels, and works like a natural tooth, preserves the jawbone, and doesn’t harm nearby teeth. It’s suitable for one, many, or all missing teeth.
