Teeth Whitening
Get a sparkling white smile with our advanced dental treatment
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments offering a quick, non-invasive and affordable way to enhance a smile. It makes your smile more confident and radiant by lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surfaces. Whitening is often desirable when teeth become yellow over time for several reasons, and can be achieved by changing the intrinsic or extrinsic colour of the tooth enamel. The active ingredient in the whitening agent is broken down by heat or light, oxygen gets into the enamel on the teeth and the tooth colour is made lighter.
TREATMENT PROCEDURE
We start the procedure with an oral examination and discover full medical, dental, and social history.
We would then debride (clean) the tooth surface with an ultrasonic scaler, and hand instruments. Afterwards, we polish teeth using a prophy paste and remove extrinsic stains.
Since the whitening agent can damage your lips and gums, we will use certain tools to protect those parts. We will put a lip retractor into your mouth.
Then comes the saliva ejector. Next, cotton balls are placed between your teeth and the inner surface of your mouth.
Finally, we will apply a gingival barrier to protect your gums from the whitening agent to reduce the risk of a chemical burn to the soft tissues.
The procedure usually involves applying whitening gel or agent onto the teeth, removing it and reapplying it several times.
Depending on the current shade of your teeth, we will adjust the agent concentration accordingly.
Professional whitening treatments can make teeth four to six shades whiter.
Tooth-lightening results are seen after one 30- to 60-minute treatment.
More dramatic results can be obtained with several applications.
LASER WHITENING TREATMENT
Laser whitening, also known as power whitening, is another type of teeth whitening system that we can provide.
A bleaching product is painted onto your teeth and then a light or laser is shone on them to activate the whitening. Laser whitening takes about an hour.
Desired teeth whitening shade may be reached after a single in-office appointment or may take longer, depending on the individual.
The effects of bleaching can last for several months but may vary depending on the lifestyle of the patient.
