Dental Crowns and Bridges in Noida – Dental Crowns:
Dental Crowns and Bridges in Noida – For teeth that have been broken, chipped, worn, or have been partially destroyed by tooth decay, a dental crown is used to restore the appearance and strength of the tooth. A dental crown is essentially a ‘cap’ that is placed on top of a damaged tooth with a permanent dental adhesive. Made of an extremely tough and durable dental material, crowns are color-matched to your natural tooth shade so they are not noticeable, while offering a permanent dental repair solution.
Dental Crowns are needed to:
1. Protect or restore a tooth from fracturing due to accident or trauma
2. Replace a tooth that is too large for a filling
3. Get a cap over the Implant placed
4. Restore the tooth on which RCT was performed
5. Cover discolored, misshaped, or badly formed tooth
6. Holding a dental bridge in place.
They are types of dental crowns that don’t cover as much of your underlying tooth as traditional dental crowns. A traditional crown will cover your entire tooth. Onlays and 3/4 crowns may be appropriate when you still have a solid tooth structure. It’s considered a more conservative approach compared to full coverage of your crown. In this procedure, we removed the affected area and performs a reshaping of the tooth to receive the crown.
Dental Crowns and Bridges in Noida – Dental Bridges:
Dental Crowns and Bridges in Noida – For some instances of missing teeth, a dental bridge may be used to produce the desired results. Bridges can easily be described as two dental crowns affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap, with a fully-formed artificial tooth connecting them in the middle. This method fills the gap while also spreading the bite pressure evenly across the two adjacent teeth, reducing the discomfort that you would experience from biting or chewing due to the missing tooth.
Maryland Bridges:
While a traditional dental bridge requires us to shave down some of the enamel on the adjacent teeth, a Maryland dental bridge does not.
The Maryland bridge is a method used to replace a missing tooth, without having to prepare the neighboring teeth.
A Maryland bridge consists of a metal framework with a porcelain tooth connected to the front of the framework. The framework then ends up as a false tooth with one or two metal wings on the side. These metal wings are prepared to have a porous surface so that they can receive a bonding agent and then the wings are bonded to the back sides of the teeth on either side of the missing tooth.
While typical dental bridges are common, a Maryland bridge is not a tooth replacement option for everyone. They are only ideal for patients who have good oral hygiene and healthy neighboring teeth.
We may only recommend a Maryland bridge for someone who meets these criteria and needs one or two missing front teeth replaced.
Crowns can be made of different materials
Metal Crowns
Several metals can be used in dental crowns, including gold, palladium, nickel, and chromium. They are durable and withstand biting and chewing forces. The metallic color is the main drawback of this type of crown. Hence, not recommended in the smile zone of the mouth.
Porcelain-fused-to-metal Crowns:
In these types of crowns, the inside of the teeth is made up of metal and the outer portion of the crown is made of porcelain. This type of dental crown can be matched to the color of the teeth that are next to the crown. They have a more natural tooth color.
However, sometimes the metal under the crown’s porcelain cap shows through as a dark line. Other cons include the chance of the crown’s porcelain portion chipping or breaking off and the crown-wearing down the teeth opposite it within the mouth. This wear on the other teeth specifically affects the teeth that come into contact with the crown on the top and bottom of your mouth when it’s closed. Porcelain-fused-to-metal dental crowns can be a good choice for front or back teeth.
Ceramic Crowns:
These types of dental crowns provide the best natural color match compared to any other crown type.
If you do not want to have metal inserted inside your mouth but want the strength to match metal crowns then ceramic crowns are the best option available. Not only is the strong but blends more naturally with your tooth color making it unnoticed. It does not have any aesthetic concerns and is the best option for the front, back, and even for the bridges.
You will typically have two sittings with us to prepare for a dental crown.
The first visit:
1. During the first visit, the tooth that’s going to receive the crown is examined and prepared. X-rays are taken of the tooth and the bone around it. We might have to do a root canal treatment before your dental crown procedure if there’s any:
Tooth decay.
Risk of infection.
Injury to the tooth’s pulp.
Pulp is the soft tissue inside your teeth that contains blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue.
2. The tooth that’s receiving the crown will be filed down across the top and sides. This will make space for the crown itself. The amount of tooth that gets filed away depends on the type of crown you have. All-ceramic dental crowns are thinner and don’t need as much of the tooth removed as porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. If too much of your tooth is missing — due to damage or decay — a filling material can be used to “build up” enough tooth structure for the crown to cover.
3. After reshaping the tooth, a paste or putty is used to make a copy (also called an impression) of the tooth that’s going to receive the crown. Impressions of the teeth above and below the tooth that’s getting the dental crown will also be made. This is done to make sure that the crown will not affect your bite.
4. The impressions are sent to a dental laboratory. The laboratory makes the crowns and usually returns them in 2-3 days or within a week.
The second visit:
1. At the second visit, the permanent crown is placed on your tooth.
2. The fit and color of the permanent crown are checked. If everything is okay, the new crown is permanently secured in place.
1. We will lightly etch the back of your adjacent/ neighboring teeth to help the bonding surface.
2. We will apply a bonding resin to the back of each adjacent tooth
We will place the bridge’s metal wings to the bonding resin on the back of each tooth, fitting the new tooth in the gap
3. We will cure the resin to secure the dental bridge in place

Post-Crown and Bridges Instruction:
After Tooth preparation :
You may experience some sensitivity to cold and hot if root canal treatment has not been done
You might feel food getting stuck in that area, that is normal and happening due to the space prepared to receive the crown. This is transitory and will settle down after crown fixation.
Brush the area gently
If a temporary crown has been in place while flossing you are supposed to pull the floss out from the side rather than upward. The rapid upward motion may dislodge the temporary crown.
If a temporary crown becomes loose or falls out, then apply vaseline inside the crown and place it back on the tooth. Immediately call and come back to get the crown either re-cemented or re-fabricated.
After crown fixation
Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after crown cementation.
Do not eat hard or sticky foods for 24 hours.
Your new crown may feel tight for several hours. This discomfort will go away within a day or two.
Crown may be contoured slightly different and have a different texture than the original tooth. Your tongue usually magnifies this small difference, but you will become accustomed to this in a few days.
If after a week, you still feel that your teeth do not touch correctly please contact us. This problem can be solved with a quick adjustment.
Please follow prescribed oral hygiene instructions- brushing twice a day and flossing once a day to avoid getting a cavity or gum disease around your new crown. Flossing is especially important in preserving the health of your crown or bridge.
